10 teams win national championships at Mylan WTT Rec League Nationals in Indian Wells
New York, N.Y. (November 10, 2015) – Recreational tennis teams from California, Florida, New Jersey, Texas and Virginia took home national championships from the 2015 Mylan WTT Nationals held at Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif., Nov. 6-8.
First time champions were crowned in eight of the divisions over the three-day national finals. Two teams defended their 2014 titles with impressive wins in the 2015 edition as Sandstorm of Brownfield, Texas captured their 2nd consecutive Super Senior 3.5 Division crown and Intrepids of North Miami, Fla., won the Senior 4.0 Division for the third straight year.
The field included more than 490 players from 23 states who advanced to the Finals after winning regional qualifying events at nine national qualifier events held between March and September.
All matches were played using the WTT format, a fast-paced team format that encourages equal contributions from both genders. A team has a minimum of four players, two men and two women. The WTT format uses six no-ad sets: men’s and women’s doubles, men’s and women’s singles and two sets of mixed doubles.
The weekend kicked off with a Wilson clinic, one of the largest demo clinics in the U.S., and player party with Mylan WTT co-founder Billie Jean King in attendance. For more information on Mylan World TeamTennis or the Mylan WTT Recreational League, visit WTT.com or call 866-PLAY-WTT.
